- Erick's restaurant touts itself as "the original Mexican fast food and more." While it may be getting a little far ahead of itself with this claim to fame, the food is inarguably doled out as quickly as promised. Oh, and, there's definitely more: quesadillas, tamales and tostadas, to name a few. And they're dirt cheap. Appetizers are in the $2 range and an average entree is about $6.

Everything at Erick's is inexpensive, but nothing comes for free. So tough luck if you’ve been spoiled with complimentary chips and salsa at other Mexican restaurants, you're going to have to pay for it at this one. But you'll forget all about that extra $1.25 when you sink your teeth into some of the tastiest burritos in the neighborhood. Not to mention these oversize, floury shells are oozing with enough meat and beans to keep you fed all week.

Thankfully you won't need to save any room for dessert. Erick's only offers two basic choices, flan and cheesecake, and neither is worth the scant price. But who really expects decadent desserts from a place that prides itself on fast food, anyway? There is, however, an elaborate juice bar stocked with all the fixings for a healthful concoction of orange, carrot, celery or beet. Of course, you could always cave at the last minute and order up one of the restaurants sugar-shackled shakes.
